Lucian Wong is a DPhil candidate in Theology at the University of Oxford, Faculty of Theology and Religion. He holds a BA in Philosophy from University College London and an MA in Indian Religions from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. His doctoral thesis explores the theme of epistemic rupture in relation to the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava tradition in colonial Bengal, with special reference to the life and thought of the prominent late nineteenth-century Vaiṣṇava figure Kedarnath Datta Bhaktivinod. He offers tutorials in Hinduism for Oxford’s Faculty of Theology and Religion, as well as readings in Middle Bengali and Phenomenology at the OCHS. He is co-leader of the OCHS Bengali Vaiṣṇavism in the Modern Period research project and a member of the Centre’s Academic Planning Committee.
